SQLite Explorer is a browser extension that opens SQLite database files in a Chrome tab.
This policy describes exactly what it does with your data: it reads the file you open on
your own device and sends nothing to us or to anyone else.
What the extension collects
Nothing. The extension does not collect, store on a server, sell or
share personal data, browsing history, database contents or usage statistics. It has no
accounts, no tracking and no third-party analytics inside the extension.
Your database files
A file you open is read into the memory of that tab, on your device, by a copy of the
SQLite library that ships inside the extension (compiled to WebAssembly). The file is
not uploaded and not copied to another place, and the original on your disk is not
changed. Closing the tab clears it from memory. CSV exports and saved BLOB values are
created on your device and handed to Chrome as ordinary downloads. The extension
itself makes no network requests at all.
What stays in your browser
Two small records, both in your browser's extension storage
(chrome.storage.local):
the draft of the query you typed in the SQL console (with a format version number next
to it), so that it is still there the next time you open the extension;
the state of the rating question: on which days you opened a database (the dates only,
up to five), whether you already answered and whether you chose "Not now", so that the
question appears once, after a few days of use, and not again after you answer.
Neither record is synced to other devices or sent anywhere, and both are deleted
automatically when you remove the extension. File names, file paths and the contents of
your databases are not stored.
Pages the extension opens
After installation it opens a one-time welcome page, and after removal
your browser opens a feedback page — both are ordinary web pages hosted
on GitHub Pages. They may use standard web analytics.
After a few days of use the extension may ask whether it is useful. A rating of 4 or 5
stars opens the extension's reviews page in the Chrome Web Store; 1 to 3 stars opens a
short feedback form on the same GitHub Pages site. Both open only when you click a star,
as an ordinary link in a new tab; the extension itself sends nothing.
Like other websites, these pages and this policy are served by third parties: GitHub
Pages hosts them and Google Fonts provides the typeface. Both receive your IP address
and basic browser details when a page loads.
Feedback you choose to submit on the removal page or the feedback form (a reason, an
optional comment and, on the feedback form, an optional email address for a reply) is
sent to the developer via Google Forms, and only when you press
Send feedback. Submitting it is entirely optional and it contains only
what you pick and type — no identifiers are attached by the page. An email address you
leave is used only to reply to you.
Permissions, explained
storage — to keep the draft of your SQL query and the state of the
rating question in your browser. This is the only permission the extension asks for.
The extension cannot read the websites you visit or your browsing history, and it does
not run on web pages. It reads only the files you drop or pick yourself.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new
