Google Docs Dark Mode — Night Theme is a browser extension that applies an eye-friendly dark theme to Google Docs. This policy describes exactly what it does with data — which is very little.

What the extension collects

Nothing. The extension does not collect, store on any server, sell or share any personal data, browsing history, document content or usage statistics. It has no accounts, no tracking, no ads and no third-party analytics inside the extension.

What stays in your browser

The extension keeps only your theme settings (on/off, theme, accent color, sliders) in Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.sync). Chrome may sync these settings between your own signed-in browsers; they are never sent to the extension's developer and are deleted when you remove the extension.

Network requests

None. The extension makes no network requests at all. It never reads, transmits or stores the content of your documents; it only changes how the page looks on your screen.

Pages the extension opens

• After installation it opens a one-time welcome page, and after removal your browser opens a feedback page — both are ordinary web pages hosted on GitHub Pages. They may use standard, anonymous web analytics.
• Feedback you choose to submit on the removal page (a reason and an optional comment) is sent to the developer via Google Forms. Submitting it is entirely optional and it contains only what you type — no identifiers are attached by the page.

Permissions, explained

• storage — to remember your theme settings.
• Access to docs.google.com/document — to apply the dark theme. The extension runs only on Google Docs documents and nowhere else — not in Sheets, not in Slides, not on any other site.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date above.
